Effects of Mercury Chloride on Oxygen Consumption & Behavioral Changes to Freshwater Fish, Cyprinus carpios

The rate of oxygen consumption was measured in mercury chloridetreated freshwater fish, cyprinus carpiofor 96hand compared to controlgroup. The present investigation showedthat average oxygen rate was de-creased in all treated animalascompared to controlled group.Behavioural changes was alsorecorded in bothconcentration.Thebehaviouralalterationsobserved like surfacing, erratic movement, increased mucous secretion, decreased opercularmovement and loss of balance. The present study revealed that,mortality rate increasedwith increasesin concentration.
