Solving the Riddle-the Mechanism of Suzuki Cross Coupling: A Review

Suzuki cross coupling reaction is one of the most celebrated organic reactions of 20thcentury.Even though it is generally assumed that the reaction proceeds via a sequence of steps oxidative addition, transmetalation and reductive elimination the actual mechanism is much more complex. Here in this review we discuss the mecha-nistic studies of Suzuki cross coupling reaction along with scientific criticism. We have here included the initial mechanistic studies as well the most recent studies. Overall we have focused different aspects of the mechanism along with the highly debated transmetalation mechanism
