The spectroscopic characteristics of praseodymium soaps (Caprylate& Laurate) in solid state were investigated by Infrared absorption spectra, X-ray diffraction patterns and Thermal analysis. The IR results report that the fatty acids subsist in dimeric state through hydrogen bonding and praseodymium caprylate and praseodymium laurate were ionic in nature. The X-ray diffraction measurements were used to calculate the long spacing and the results assert the double layer structure of praseodymium caprylate and laurate. The TGA technique was used for Praseodymium soaps to determine their thermal degradation inert atmosphere, which was found to be a multistep decomposition related to the release of the metal soaps.
