The anti-ulcer effect of the Schiff base 1H-indole-3-ethylenesalicyldamine and its zinc (II), nickel (II) and copper (II) complexes have been reported. The compounds were tested against ethanol-induced gastric lesions in rats in high (60 mg/kg) and low (30 mg/kg) doses. They show high efficacy as anti-ulcer agents than Cimetidine control. Research finding laid suitable backgrounds for further studies and investigations for promising alternatives to traditional anti-ulcer drugs.
